Mid-Face Lift
At Renew Aesthetic Center, our board-certified Ophthalmic Plastic Surgeons provide personalized mid-facelift or cheek lift procedures with results that leave our Norfolk and Virginia Beach area patients looking naturally younger and more refreshed.
What is a Mid-Face Lift?
The center portion of the face is an area that gets a lot of attention and is also the part of the face where most of our expressions come from. With the passage of time, collagen and elastin production in the skin of the face slows, and this can lead to a loss of elasticity, expression lines, and the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Unlike full facelift surgery, a mid-face lift is designed to tighten the center portion of the face, including the cheek area, the area under the eyes, and the corners of the mouth.
Benefits of a Mid-Face Lift
Mid-face lift surgery can address a number of signs of aging, including:
- Diminishing the appearance of nasolabial folds
- Diminishing the appearance of smile lines
- Lifting and tightening the skin
- Restoring loss facial volume
- Correcting a “hollowed” look under the eyes
- Improving cheekbone contours
- Correcting mild jowling to create a more contoured jawline
- A more youthful appearance and enhanced self-confidence
The Mid-Face Lift Procedure
The first step in preparing for mid-face lift surgery is to attend a personal consultation with one of our board-certified Opthalmic Plastic Surgeons. During this meeting, you will have the opportunity to discuss your aesthetic concerns and goals, and together you will arrive at the best treatment plan for you.
A mid-face lift is an outpatient surgical procedure that is performed under general anesthesia. Depending on your goals, the surgeon will make a series of small incisions, potentially behind the hairline at the temples, in the natural creases under the lower eyelid, and inside of the mouth. Next, fat and muscle will be readjusted and excess skin removed to create a smoother and more youthful appearance before the incisions are closed with sutures.
Recovery After Mid-Face Lift
Each mid-face lift procedure is customized, so each patient’s recovery process looks a little different. You can expect to experience mild swelling and bruising as well as mild discomfort as you recover from a mid-face lift. Most of our patients are able to return to their normal activities after about a week, though you should avoid strenuous activities for several weeks.
