Fraxel Laser

Many of our patients are frustrated by the appearance of dark spots, fine lines, acne, and other skin imperfections that simply won’t respond to over-the-counter creams and lotions. Fortunately, at Renew Aesthetic Center, we can correct these and other aesthetic issues through non-invasive laser skin resurfacing using the Frax 1500 fractional laser. Thanks to this treatment, our patients in the Norfolk and Virginia Beach areas are enjoying brighter, refreshed, more youthful looking skin with no downtime.

What is Fraxel?

At Renew Aesthetic Center, we are proud to employ the Frax 1500 fractional laser for skin resurfacing. This latest version of the fractional laser does not break the surface of the skin, but delivers small, highly controlled bursts of heat energy to the treatment area. Surrounding skin and tissues are left untouched. The heat delivered by the fractional laser breaks up pigmented cells and stimulates collagen production to reveal more even skin tone and more youthful skin, while the improved SoftCool™ skin cooler helps keep treatment Trusetd Source Checkbox Trusted Source Nordlys Patient Brochure Skin Resurfacing Go to Source comfortable.

Fraxel Treatment: What to Expect

Preparing for Skin Resurfacing

There isn’t much our patients need to do in preparation for their laser skin resurfacing treatment. Before Fraxel treatment, patients attend a consultation with a skilled practitioner. During this meeting, the patient will have the opportunity to candidly discuss their skin frustrations and goals. Together, the patient and our Fraxel expert will decide on the best treatment plan.

The Fraxel Treatment Experience

Treatment with the Frax 1500 laser is non-invasive and can be completed in just 30 to 60 minutes at Renew Aesthetic Center. Before treatment, the patient’s skin is cleansed and a topical anesthetic is applied to ensure patient comfort. When the treatment laser is applied to the skin, patients may experience a sensation of warmth to mild discomfort, which will resolve when the skin is cooled after treatment is complete.

Recovery After Fraxel

Laser skin resurfacing with Frax 1500 requires no downtime, and our patients are able to resume their normal activities immediately after treatment. It is normal for treated skin to appear a little pink for a day or two following Fraxel laser treatment, and patients may feel like they have a mild sunburn. It is very important that patients avoid sun exposure for at least 30 days following laser skin resurfacing, so be sure to use sunscreen every day.

Fraxel Results

Depending on the patient’s unique treatment goals, we recommend a series of three to six treatment sessions with the Frax 1500 to achieve optimal results. Patients notice skin that is smoother, more even in tone, and more youthful after Fraxel skin resurfacing. In recent studies, 100% of patients who underwent treatment with Frax 1500 saw textural improvements in their skin, while 81% of those patients saw a reduction in pore Trusetd Source Checkbox Trusted Source Clinical evaluation and in-vivo analysis of the performance of a fractional infrared 1550 nm laser system for skin rejuvenation Tidwell WJ, Green C, Jensen D, Ross EV Go to Source size.

Frequently Asked Questions About Laser Skin Resurfacing

Is Fraxel painful?

Treatment with the Fraxel laser is non-ablative, which means that the surface of the skin is not broken. A numbing cream is applied to the skin before treatment, and the Frax 1500 comes equipped with a SoftCool™ air cooling system to enhance treatment comfort. Most of our patients report a sensation of warmth and mild discomfort during their laser skin resurfacing session, but pain should not be part of your experience.

What is the cost of Fraxel treatment?

Fraxel laser cost varies, depending on the patient’s aesthetic goals, the size of the treatment area, and the number of sessions recommended to achieve optimal results. Your Fraxel practitioner will go over all costs of laser resurfacing treatment during your personal consultation.
