Get to Know Dr. Black

Dr. Joshua Black is a board-certified optometrist committed to providing thorough eye-care services including the management of neurologic eye disease, dry eyes, and glaucoma.

After graduating from Nova Southeastern University College of Optometry with extensive academic honors and achievements, Dr. Black pursued a residency program in Miami, Florida, at the world-renowned Bascom Palmer Eye Institute. There he received intensive training in glaucoma, retina, cornea, peri-operative care, ocular emergencies, and neurologic eye disease. He then joined Virginia Eye Consultants and has remained committed to academia by completing fellowship to the American Academy of Optometry. Currently, he enjoys producing scholarly works, instructing students and residents, and providing a positive experience to his patients.

He is a native Virginian from the Tidewater area and enjoys exploring the local outdoors in his spare time. If you can’t find him somewhere near the water, it’s probably college football season.
