Get to Know Dr. Schneider

Rachel Schneider M.D. is a fellowship trained, board-certified ophthalmologist specializing in refractive cataract surgery, standard cataract surgery, clear lens exchange, ICL, LASIK, PRK, ocular surface reconstruction, and minimally invasive glaucoma surgery.

She received her Bachelor of Arts from the University of North Carolina, where she was the captain of the gymnastics team. Dr. Schneider went on to earn her medical degree from Jefferson Medical College, where she graduated Cum Laude and was elected to the national honor medical society, Alpha Omega Alpha. She then completed her ophthalmology residency at Tulane University, where she presented her research both in the US and abroad. Following residency, Dr. Schneider practiced comprehensive ophthalmology in Knoxville, TN, where she volunteered her time with Remote Area Medical, providing eye care to underserved communities. She then completed additional fellowship training in Advanced Anterior Segment Surgery at the Eye Institute of West Florida before joining Virginia Eye Consultants.

Dr. Schneider is active in research and is committed to advancing the field of ophthalmology. She has expertise in performing the most technologically advanced forms of cataract and refractive surgeries and is dedicated to providing her patients individualized care with the goal of achieving the best possible outcomes.

In her spare time, she enjoys spending quality time with her family and friends, exercising, trying new restaurants, and traveling.
